Frank, two toddlers and I arrived in Templeton in 1983.  We were off on a new adventure.  Frank was opening his Medical Practice after completing his residency as an OB/GYN physician.

We were fortunate to be able to buy a beautiful piece of property with a small 3 bedroom house.  Over the years, as our family grew, so did the size of the house.  Raising 6 children with the house being continually under construction was challenging, to say the least. I’m sure I lost a few brain cells in the process.  As the years flew by and the kids moved on to their own lives it became painfully apparent the house was just too big for Frank and I.

A new amazing chapter for our family was about to begin.  We had talked about the possibility of sharing our home as a Bed and Breakfast for many years.  Now, after 43 years of marriage and the raising of 6 children that family discussion has become a reality.

We are so proud and grateful to our wonderfully talented children for making this dream the beautiful reality it has become.  We chose the name, Loma Maria, as a loving tribute to our oldest daughter Maria who passed away 8 yeas ago and is dearly missed. The opening of Loma Maria would never have become a reality without the support and hard work of my husband and kids.  It has been such a blessing.

We would like to welcome you to our dream come true. We know you will enjoy our home as much as we have and in the process make lasting memories of your own.

Maria

Maria was our first born and a force to be reckoned with from the beginning.  She was bold, fearless and loyal.  She had many interests in her life, and was good at everything she set out to do.  Eventually, her interest brought her to Portland to live with some friends.  She was always interested in cooking and while in Portland she graduated from Culinary School.  She loved cooking and baking all her adult life and we all loved it when she would cook for the family.  After she was married she moved to San Francisco.  She and her husband went to Florence for the summer where she took additional culinary courses, and traveled all over Italy. Once back in the states, and living again in San Francisco, she became interested in fashion and make up artistry and graduated from Cosmetology School. It was one of her dreams to move back to the area and open an authentic Italian Deli and Market. Unfortunately, this was one dream she wasn’t able to realize. We love you Maria and think about you every single day. Your beauty is missed by everyone who knew you. ~ Mom + Dad

How to sum up my big sister in such few words. I still struggle with her loss, but am so honored to hold her memory close with Loma Maria. Maria was feisty in every sense of the word. She gave her little sister a run for her money from day one. Personally I never needed a big brother for protection, she was my protector no matter what the circumstance. She was a free spirit, fattened us all up with her love of culinary arts, was fabulously uncoordinated but danced regardless, she loved music and still inspires my musical tastes to this day. She comes and visits us often in the winds that blow like clock work through the hill, that is now named in her honor. She loved her family and her family home. We hope our guests can build the kind of memorable moments we did, growing up in our own personal paradise. ~ Rene

When I look in the mirror I see her. I see her in my hands and in my nose. I hear her in my laugh and in my tone. While some find comfort in knowing her soul is free in their Gods kingdom, I find comfort in knowing that her soul runs free in our expansive world. Her blood runs through my veins like the rivers and streams before me, the gentle flow of the wind drifting the leaves. I feel her in every fiber of Mother Nature. ~ Angela

Maria is someone who ate life up.  She wanted to do so much and wanted to make everyone happy. She was fiercely talented at anything she set out to do. Her way was definitely always the right way. She loved to socialize, and looked stunning at every party. Maria could speak Italian fluently, and that always made me a little jealous. She was the one I called everyday walking to and from the subway. I constantly begged her to make zucchini bread for years. Despite being an amazing cook she could never make a good batch of chocolate chip cookies, but she did make the best biscuits and gravy on earth. They were perfect every time, and always shoved in your face at the perfect moment.  Maria loved to travel and only eat the best where ever she was.  Living in Italy was a dream for her and the experience of her life. Traveling all over, exploring everywhere she could. If she were with us today, you would have eaten at one of her restaurants by now I promise you that. There are a million little things that makeup who Maria was. She was a true beauty our sister.  ~ Teresa

Hospitality Manager, taking care of all your customer service needs. I am ready to make your stay a true top notch experience. When my parents purchased the property and small ranch home in 1983, I was just 18 months old. What is now Loma Maria is the only family home I have ever known. As a child I found a passion for soccer, and went on to receive 3 Championships with our local Templeton High School (GO EAGLES). After high school I moved to my second home, Sunny San Diego. While there I received my Masters Degree in Social Work. My new passion became working with families experiencing abuse and neglect, and providing them with the best resources I could find to help them heal. It is this experience, I feel now helps guide me in providing quality communication and services for our guests. In 2010 conversations about our life long dream really began to ramp up. And our dream of turning our family properties into vacation homes, and share of slice of Central Coast heaven with the world, started to become a reality. By 2012, I had made the big move home and my brother Frankie and I quickly got to work, and our dreams have come true!

It has been a long-time labor of love getting to this point. We grew up with the house under constant construction to make room for the 6 of us. As a surgeon and a craftsman, my Dad always valued having skilled hands. He brought to life his vision of a family compound on the hill, and the skills he taught me along the way are priceless. Having a Mom as kind-hearted as mine has been a cornerstone in my life and the family. My love of science and creating started early and eventually led to me studying physics and art history at UCLA. Nature is at the intersection of my passions, and I continue to spend as much time as I can exploring the wild places on earth. When I returned home from college, my Sister and I decided to start working towards Loma Maria. Soon after, I met my wife and lover for life. She is the best adventure buddy ever, and has been an incredible support from day one. Thirteen years later, we’ve invited our precious Thea Rae into the world, and Loma Maria is finally open. Our Home has entered a new chapter, and we’re so excited to welcome you.

Growing up in our house was an adventure every day. It was loud, we got in fights, we laughed, we played games, ate everything in site and a whole lot of other things.  My favorite part about growing up on our hill was being able to escape outside. We were lucky to have a huge backyard ripe for exploring and getting lost. We would turn giant piles of dirt into forts, have dirt clod wars, spin around on the ATVs, or play around on our mini zip-line.

After high school, I left the area and made my way to LA for college to study art.  I continued my studies in New York and obtained my master's. After 6 years, I said goodbye to New York and found myself in San Diego where I currently live and work as a professional photographer.

My photography is a little bit of everything; travel, weddings, conceptual, and lifestyle.  I’ve had a camera in my hand since I was 12, thanks to my mom. Throughout the years I’ve come to learn about and appreciate all different forms of art; painting, sculpture, writing, and land art. Hayao Miyazaki is a huge influence, Richard Avedon, Ruth Asawa, Frederick Sommers, James Turrell…the list goes on.

I started out in the fine art world working and showing in galleries and museums.  My aesthetic combines the traditional practice of documentary photography with the impulsive reflections of life experiences. Creating images that are a fresh, honest representation of reality.

Currently, you can find my fiance and me being lazy with our cat on a day off or trying to find the next best bowl of ramen or karage. We love to cycle, go to Padres games, watch anime, and eat our way through a vacation.

Visit my website to inquire about collaborations and wedding photography, and buy fine art prints.

Hello, my name is Christopher LoJacono. I am the 5th child in our large family of 8. At the young age of 8 years old I learned how to drive a tractor and I started working in our family vineyard. When I got older I started to manage the harvesting of our fruit and really learning what it took to maintain a vineyard. In 2015 I worked my first harvest in the cellar at Wild Horse Winery. That took my knowledge of the wine industry to a new level, really sparking my interest in that as a career. After one harvest at Wild Horse, I moved to a full time position as a cellar technician at J Lohr Winery. For 2 years I honed my skills in the cellar and really learned how to make wine. After 2 years I had a change of heart and decided to go back to my roots in the vineyard. I took a position as a vineyard technician at DAOU Vineyards. After a short period of time I worked my way up to assistant vineyard manager. During that first year at DAOU I decided to take on the task of managing my family vineyard as well. Now in 2020 I manage 6 different vineyards for 3 company’s all on the west side of Paso Robles and Templeton and I reside in Paso Robles with my wonderful wife Daedre, and our four kids Maddie, Millie, Memphis, and Ollie. I hope you enjoy your stay in our family home and enjoy the beauty which is the central coast. Cheers!

The youngest (and best) of them all. I could tell you where I graduated and my degree and all that but let’s be honest, that’s pretty boring. Ill tell you what I like (and love) instead. I like to paint while listening to classical music. I like to run. I like to travel; I worked on a permaculture farm in Costa Rica for three months and traveled around the United States in an ’87 Volkswagen Vanagon close to four. I like watching my dog Jasper do her 360 spin moves when playing with her friends. I like my eggs scrambled, my pancakes crispy and I LOVE myself a huge plate of pasta. I like a glass of wine with my friends on a porch. I like the smell of a Sauvignon Blanc ferment and the feeling of a squeaky-clean cellar floor. I love that I grew up on property and in a region that fosters my love for wine. I know my siblings would agree that growing up on a vineyard with six of us and a father with a tendency to tackle ten jobs at once, we needed to learn the value of hard work and dedication at a young age. For months my siblings and I placed tile sheet after tile sheet in our soon to be pool. Tiling was one of my favorite “chores” out of the many random things we did as kids to help with the endless projects around our home. I remember the feeling of triumph on the day we came home from school, put on our bathing suits, and threw the hose into the empty tiled pit. We sat in the deep end in a slowly building puddle of water and played games. I think I can speak for my siblings when I say, this vivid memory, among many, taught us the importance of hard work and the benefits to be reaped in its aftermath. This mentality is how I choose to lead each day in my journey to do great work and one day, make great wine.
